Atypical Hyperplasia

Atypical hyperplasia is a term used for either "twig" or "leaf" disease that is abnormal, but not sufficiently abnormal to be diagnosed as either DCIS or LCIS. Like LCIS, it identifies women with increased risk of breast lesions in either breast (in any location). Unlike either DCIS or LCIS, the risk per year is much lower. Remember though, that all women statistically have a "1 out of 8" to "1 out of 9" chance of developing a breast cancer over the course of their entire lives.
