Mammogram Guidelines

The Partnership for Breast Care endorses the screening mammography recommendations made by the American Cancer Society, American College of Radiology, American Medical Women's Association and other national medical and health organizations.

Women are encouraged to begin annual screening mammography by age 40, along with regular breast self-examination and yearly clinical breast examination by a healthcare provider.

We believe that annual screening mammography has been shown in clinical trials to allow for earlier detection of breast cancer than older recommendations for mammography every 1-2 years. The earlier breast cancers are detected, the better the chances for improved treatment results.
